GAIOLE IN CHIANTI (SI) - October 4th 2009 - This travel package for L'Eroica 2009 will give you the chance to be at the very heart of the event: the hotel included in the pack is located just in the little square where the cycle event take the start.

Packet's details

The package includes 5 nights in a 3 stars hotel including breakfast (IN September 30th OUT October 5th). The hotel is located just upon the start fo the randonnèe. The entry to the race is included.

The day before the event, we will enjoy a welcome drink together with fine Italian wine, finger food and appetizer.

The patron and founder of the event, mr Giancarlo Brocci, will join us for the drink.

A lunch and a dinner in selected local restaurants are included.

Also, you will have:

- the support of our staff during the race (rescue in case of any mechanical accident or so)

- a tour of the race route for non-rider participants.

The meeting with our staff will be at the hotel the 2nd of October. You can reach the hotel by car, coach or through a private transfer from major airports in the area (Florence, Pisa). We will be happy to help you plan your trip as you prefer.

L'Eroica: what is it?

L'Eroica is the first vintage cycle race in the world. The randonnée takes place over pavements and dirt roads of the Chiantishire. Most of participants ride the event on vintage bicycles and vintage clothes.

L'Eroica it's a jump to the epic times of cycling. Here you will meet "heroes" that complete all the 200 kilometers of the routes riding old bikes of about a century ago. Here you will find one of the most interesting markets of vintage cycling memorabilia.

You will experience in a really unique way all the Italian passion for cycling and the atmosphere, the cuisine and beauty of Tuscany

How to book

First, send us an email to obtain a quotation and the booking form.

We will send you a booking form that you must fill and resend to us by fax.

You can pay by bank transfer, credit card or Paypal. All the details about the payment will be on the booking form.

How to reach Gaiole in Chianti

Gaiole in Chianti is located in the Provincia di Siena (33 km from Siena), 90 km from the Florence airport.

By car

To reach Gaiole you can rent a car at the Florence airport and follow the road A1 until Montevarchi; you must exit the A1 in Montevarchi and take the SP 408 (Strada provinciale 408). We can assist you in renting the car.

By bus

The bus heading to Gaiole, leaves from the Autostazione Sita in Florence. You can reach the autostazione taking the airport shuttle or by taxi. Taking the shuttle leaving at 7.00 - 7.50 - 8.30 - 12.50am you will arrive in Autostazione Sita in time to take the bus leaving at 1.35pm. The bus will arrive in Gaiole at 3.30pm.

Coming back to Florence, the coach will leave at 6.55am from Gaiole and will arrive in Florence at 8.55am (in Autostazione Sita).

If you arrive in Florence on the afternoon it is better to opt for this solution: from Autostazione SITA in Florence, take the bus to Siena. To take the bus leaving from Siena to Gaiole at 05.50pm you must take the bus Firenze-Siena before the departure of 04.10pm (every 30 minutes).

You have to ask to the driver of the coach in order to board your bike.

By train

Also you can take the train Firenze-Montevarchi (schedule on www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html). Be sure to be in Montevarchi around 01.00pm to take the bus for Gaiole leaving at 13.35pm.

Bikes can be transported on some trains, look for the bike icon on the Web schedule.
